London, UK
One of the two speakers at the London chapter of the PSA (Professional Speakers Association) last weekend was Nigel Vardy who had travelled down from Derbyshire.
He spoke about his mountaineering adventures (and the loss of his toes and fingers) then outlined some tips to the audience which included both budding and experienced speakers.
His focus was on preparation and having a back-up or Plan “B”. For example, if you’re making a presentation with the usual technology, make sure you have kept spare memory sticks and cables, so when things go wrong – and from time to time they do – you’ll only have a few seconds of interruption before continuing smoothly with your presentation or speech.
