One of the best in-house AV (audio visual) operations in London is at The Royal Society of Medicine. Run by the very talented Kevin McLoughlin and his team, it’s unlikely you see this problem crop up for a speaker or presenter. It’s where the presenter becomes part of the Powerpoint or similar presentation – and it looks a bit like this:
This is a wonderful example of how to look stupid in front of your audience. Having text emblazoned across your forehead is not the best way to get your audience to concentrate on what you are saying. It’s looks sloppy and unprofessional.
This photo says everything about the lack of preparation.
If you have an important presentation with slides, take the time to do a proper rehearsal. If there are issues with the siting of the projector, make sure you stand to one side of the stage and if possible off stage all together. You want the audience to absorb your message without any distractions or disturbances.
