Pitching or Bitching?

The title to this blog post is a phrase which business-guru Geoff Burch mentioned during his humourous and thought-provoking presentation @SalesExpo at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The author of “The Way Of The Dog” amongst many other titles, Geoff highlighted the above phrase when talking about non-sales employees within organisations. His point is simply this – get all staff members from senior management to the cleaning lady to be sales aware, or as I see it, get them to learn generic sales skills. And give them all business cards!

Yet so many people in large organisations don’t seem to realise the importance of getting and keeping customers. Sometimes it’s their poor attitude, bad management, or just a lack of awareness when engaging with new or existing customers.
