



The one thing I like about auctions is that they are just like sales – but with a captive audience. You just know as auctioneer, you’ll be doing some business, or raising money for some worthy cause or another.
Like any other event, it’s important to do the research…what items are in the catalogue, what is the reserve price (if any) and when is it appropriate and timely to withdraw an item from sale.
But the most important prerequisite of any auctioneer is to have eyes like a hawk – you must be quick to see who’s bidding. Any delay may result in a withdrawn offer.
