Being An Event Host – Tip No. 33 – Clipboards

Rather than relying on one’s memory, established MC’s, compere’s and event hosts will refer to notes (see my post on research) – I use two clipboards, yes clipboards, not an Ipad, Tablet or similar electronic contraption.

I find the typed or written word on paper better than any digital device…ok, call me old-fashioned.

Depending on the event, I tend to use one clipboard for the overall running order and one for the speaker or piece I’m going to introduce.

In that instance, the running order clipboard will be left off-stage. If I’m hosting an awards ceremony (where I tend to be on stage for a lengthy period of time) I normally have a set of notes and the running order combined on a single clipboard or ring-binder.
