Making sure that you’re fully prepared applies to many things that we do on a daily basis.
But when you are in the spotlight on stage, you must be seen to get things right first time or the event can go horribly wrong.
I’ve already mentioned in Tip 3 about getting peoples names pronounced correctly, so what else can you do to ensure a successful outcome?
I would suggest these points will aid you:
1. Read up on the background of the company who have hired you and get to know the key personnel. Don’t skimp, be thorough.
2. Do a run through (to a mirror if need be) of the things you’re going to say and type up a working agenda.
3. Leave plenty of time so you arrive at your venue with time to do the “mike” test.
