Being An Event Host – Tip No. 38 – Keep Control

At an award ceremony a few years ago, some of the category winners wanted to spend a little bit too much time in the limelight.

As the host on that evening in question, I had to carefully usher them off the stage so that they could return to their seats without too much fuss……or embarrassment.

This rarely happens as there always seems to be a couple of young ladies on hand to assist but when your bereft of helpers things can go awry.

The best way to alleviate the possibility of stage foul-ups is to rehearse with the event organiser and AV crew well beforehand so that if something untoward happens it can be speedily dealt with. But when there is an awkward moment, one has to step in….
