Keep your ego in your pocket before you arrive at the event location. This will ensure that your thoughts and opinions are firmly left at the door. The audience, the event management and the sound guys are there to see you introduce speakers, award-winners and to give thanks to sponsors. They’re not there to listen to your take on such-and-such, or you feelings toward so-and-so.
Your job is to set the tone and get the audience “up” and looking forward to the proceedings. So don’t blow your own trumpet!
