London, UK
For a change, I’ve decided to post something totally unrelated to business or presenting matters.
Here’s a newspaper article which appeared in the Isle of Thanet Gazette. The paper, which covers the Margate (UK) area, featured a piece about my father, Neville Jacobs and I’m grateful to the Editor, Rebecca Smith for publishing it.
Like so many men of his generation, his finest moments were probably fighting for King and country. In his case facing the Imperial Japanese Army in Burma between 1942 and 1944. And before confronting them, he had some time for his great passion, playing cricket – (he was a Middlesex trialist once). (here’s a link to the Burma Star website)
BTW, the “featured image” shows a Dakota DC-3. My father still tells me about the time he had to throw supplies out of one of those planes to troops on the ground. (He rarely speaks of the terrible privations he and his colleagues would have suffered)
Fast forward to 2013:
You’ll see that after many years of taking in the seaside air, he’s moving home which at “eighty-several” is very stressful indeed. Then you have to factor in recent carer issues, I like to call them “drive-by” carers……his move was successful and Neville is settling in nicely to his new surroundings which is just a few minutes away from me by car rather than an hour and three-quarters away down the M2.
