London, UK
A while ago, I posted a blog which included one of those motivational videos from Brian Tracy. It was about having enough energy to do the things you need to do in order to work at your best in the waking hours. His research told him that many people in the USA (and I dare say it’s much the case over here in the UK as well) weren’t getting enough sleep…just 5-6 hours rather than eight hours.
Brian recommends that we should go to bed at 10 pm each night, having wound down since 9pm. Instead what do we do, we stay up to the early hours either watching television, reading or worst of all, sit in front of a computer finding out which one of our so-called friends on Facebook or Twitter has mentioned such and such or has been to see thelatestboxofficesmashhitmustsee film!
In my field, I’m expected to perform on stage and/or in front of a camera for lengthy periods of time. I have to be on top form to face and speak to audiences…something I couldn’t do properly with enthusiasm if I don’t get enough rest.
Do you have the desire and discipline to get a full eight hours of sleep each night? Do what Brian suggests in his video and try it for one week.
I’d also like to mention “The Sleep Book Guide” by top London physiotherapist and sleep expert, Sammy Margo.
