A Pain On A Train

How standards have dropped!

There was a time when travelling First Class on a train travelling between two of our great conurbations, that one would have would tea or coffee served in bone china cups. You would have also had a white table cloth and a wide variety of beautifully served food. But of course that was all a very long time ago.
Today’s traveller on the other hand and if he or she is lucky, will get a packet of crisps, ordinary looking sandwiches, some drinks and a choice of “Fairtrade” foodstuffs. This morning, all I wanted was a piece of fruit – after it clearly stated on the menu there was “A selection of fruit”. I was informed by the smart and polite Trevor (at least East Coast can get that right) that I had two choices. An apple or a banana and the apple had already been taken. I gracefully accepted the fresh banana and vowed to drive to and from Yorkshire next time.
