How Not To Start A Cold Call – Revisited

It’s enough to make you weep!

Some bright spark called at a client of mine and I took the call –

“Can I speak to the owner or the head of your advertising” said a man in a Mid-Atlantic accent.

I replied, “I’m sorry, this firm doesn’t take unsolicited sales calls”.

“Uh” grunted the man and slammed the phone down.

I suppose he was suffering from the Monday Morning Blues but honestly all he had to do was be polite. Something along the lines of “can you help me please” would have helped his cause no end. Who knows he may have got an appointment.
