Last summer, I was given the opportunity to host a very prestigious charity award ceremony.
The event took place in London and over 200 people attended.
A call came out of the blue from a person who was a senior board member at the charity in question. Apparently, I had been recommended by a third-party who had seen me at an event the previous year.
The evening went very well indeed and I was given some great feedback by all of those who took part and from the organising committee in particular.
It’s always a privilege to host functions like these. So it’s important you get the essentials right.
They are:
1. Perform to the best of your ability.
2. As with every other event, don’t “Lord it up” because you were recommended. Be humble and professional.
3. Afterwards thank everybody who assisted in the organisation of the event – but ensure you thank the person or persons who recommended you in the first place.
