Yet More Presenter Bloopers

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

London, UK

The BBC “vt” very unofficial videos did the rounds some years ago. I’d thought they had been banned by YT and others. Clearly not. So enjoy former presenters – Frank Bough, Robin Day and Sue Lawley.

Again, I harp back to the numerous occasions I’ve mentioned just how important preparation is for any presenter, newscaster or public speaker.

Antiques Den

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

London, UK

One of the most inspiring television programmes on television nowadays is Dragon’s Den which is hosted by BBC Radio 4 presenter, Evan Davis. If you caught last Monday’s episode, you will have seen Patrick van der Vorst of “Value My Stuff Now” get the investment he wanted from two of the Dragons. His site is great for those of us who would like to value certain items! I’ve loaded up a couple of things on the site and look forward to receiving my valuation certificate.
I’m not suggesting that yours truly has valuable items stashed away but If I can de-clutter an item or two and make a little extra, then I suppose it’ll be worth while. Some things you just have to get rid of from time to time. Now, where was that Faberge Egg?
(By the way, the gentleman in the cartoon on the left is part of the brand logo of Value My Stuff. Take a look at the site, it’s dead easy to use).

A Storm Brewing At The BBC?

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

London, UK

A BBC weatherman loses it on air………………..

This isn’t the first time young Tomasz Schafernaker has been in a spot of bother. At the beginning of last year, I posted a video (now deleted by You Tube) on my old Corporate Presenter blog, showing Tomasz throwing a hissy fit at his production team just before going on air.
Perhaps in the future the BBC will start to employ weather presenters with a few more summers under their belt.

Becks On The Ross Show?

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

London, UK

Rumour has it that David Beckham may make a star appearance on the final Jonathan Ross show which is due to be aired at BBC1 on Friday, July 16th. (Personally, I think Fabio Capello should be enticed on to the couch!) After 13 years presenting at the BBC, Ross or @wossy as he’s known on Twitter is quitting the Beeb. His spot on Film 2010 will be taken by the gorgeous Claudia Winkleman.

Now do you think David B is a good choice for the final guest slot? Being associated with the overpaid, bling-loving losers of the England football team his crown may have slipped a bit. It’s a pity that Kylie Minogue, who was in brilliant form on last weeks’ show, couldn’t have made the final instalment but my choice of course, would be Russell Brand, after all it was his on-air antics which may have led to JR’s temporary decline in popularity last year.

So what’s next for Mr Ross, Hampstead Garden Suburb’s most famous resident? ITV, Al-Jazeera, SKY – I suspect that wherever he ends up, he’ll do pretty well.

UPDATE

Looks as though Becks has been booked.

Good Luck Penny Smith……

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

London, UK

…in whatever you do next. After 17 years, Penny is leaving her presenter spot on GMTV. I think she’s great and would be brilliant on BBC’s “One Show”.

Do You Have Dunkirk Spirit?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

London, UK

How very apt that this week we’re celebrating the evacuation of some 338,000 British and Allied troops from the beaches at Dunkirk. The state of the country’s economy may have led to the creation of the Conservative-led collaborative coalition government at this month’s election – and I think it’s imperative that we all club together and get Britain out of the economic “hole” we find ourselves in, so let’s have some Dunkirk Spirit in 2010.
Turning back to events of 70 years ago, you can view maps of the Dunkirk evacuation on this BBC webpage and there’s more to read here. The Royal British Legion has a page dedicated to this week’s events which makes interesting reading.

New Presenter At BBC

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

London, UK

So a comedian is to take the place of Adrian Chiles on BBC TV’s The One Show from July. Mancunian Jason Manford must have been a surprise choice for many but I wish him well. Let’s see how he gets along with his lovely co-presenter Christine “English Channel” Bleakley.

Great Legs?

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

London, UK

One of my favourite female television presenters is Julia Bradbury. Here she is giving someone a really hard time on BBC’s Watchdog programme. Trouble is though do you concentrate on the matter she’s discussing or what she wearing, or rather not wearing depending on your point of view. A bit of glamour every now and then is fine but do you find Julia’s apparel off-putting?

Bradford City FC Disaster

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

London, UK

BBC1′s Football Focus was today broadcast from Bradford City’s ground and tv presenter/commentator John Helm together with former Bradford manager, Terry Yorath recounted the events of May 11th,1985 as tragedy unfolded on the final game of the 84/85 season. Just before half-time the match between Bradford and Lincoln was interrupted as fire took hold in one of the stands. Some of you will find this video upsetting:

As dramatic is this radio commentary:

BBC Presenter Gaffe

Friday, April 9th, 2010

On BBC London at lunchtime today:

Interaction between Mike Ramsden and female sports reporter after discussing Fulham’s victory in Germany against Wolfsburg and their draw against Hamburg SV in the Europa League.

Anchor Mike Ramsden to female sports reporter:

“So what do we know about Hamburg”?

Female reporter replies: “Well they are another German club”.

Unbelievable!
