Pretender Agenda

Posted in UK, LSQ TV, Web TV, Jeremy Jacobs, 2008, presenter at 8:34 pm by Jeremy Jacobs

You’ll enjoy LSQ TV’s “fan-cam” footage from the New Players Theatre last night. My lovely co-presenter Cat and I had a great time. Really enjoyed talking to Frances Ruffelle, Anita Loiuse Combe and others. As you’ll see!

Here’s the You Tube description:

As it’s still closed season for premieres in the Square, the gig tonight is down near the river at The New Players Theatre where this brand new play is having its press night. Invite in hand, I saw the play then got a chance to mingle with the cast, creatives and celebs and got a view from the other side of the velvet rope. The play itself was really entertaining. Very funny and had some great twists, one liners and characters. To meet the cast and writer/director afterwards was a treat. Any Blue fan or Eastenders lover would have loved it. Check out the list below. I got my programmed signed by most everyone. BTW go see this if you can, it’s excellent.Cast in attendance:
Lee Ryan - ex Blue

Reporting Live

Posted in LSQ TV, Jeremy Jacobs, 2008 at 3:33 pm by Jeremy Jacobs

No not live reporting as a presenter but reporting on “LIVE” a new film starring Eva Mendes.

Last night, I went along with some of my fellow presenters from Leicester Square Television to a special screening. Eva Mendes stars as an ambitious television executive in Academy Award–winning filmmaker Bill Guttentag‘s compelling satire “LIVE!”, a Lionsgate UK release, which will open at London‘s Empire, Leicester Square, on Friday 19th September.

*****************

“Wacky, wild and so American. “Live” gives a wonderful insight into the maniacal world of US media.
Written and directed by documentary filmaker, Bill Guttentag, “Live” shows Eva Mendes at her very best. She plays the gutsy Katy Courbet who doesn’t take prisoners and her foil is Rex, an up-and-coming documentary maker.
They follow each other from pitch to meeting and back again until Katy’s idea of getting a Russian Roulette game finally gets on air.
Film buffs may consider this to be a fusion of the 1970’s hits Network and the futuristic Rollerball.
Fast and furious, it highlights human nature at it’s most bizarre and curious”.

Sports Reporter faces sack

Posted in Radio Reporting, UK, 2008, BBC at 10:47 pm by Jeremy Jacobs

London, UK

One must be so careful not to say anything which can cause serious offence when reporting. Chris Price, a BBC sports reporter in his twenties, made a “serious error of judgement” by comparing a football teams defence with last weeks Spanish plane crash. Here’s the story in full

Should Chris be given a second chance or has he brought disrepute to the BBC?

The LSQ fan-cam was at Frightfest, London’s annual horror festival. Check this out:

London: 21 August 2008. Film4 Frightfest, London’s annual summer horror festival got underway tonight at Odeon West End, Leicester Square with the world premiere of this hoodie horror indie britflick. This premiere was an informal affair absent red carpet and security cordon around the celebs. I met the director and star and chatted with them. The usual suspects got plenty of time with them, signing and posing. Special treat for me was meeting two “Descent” directors in the same night, Neil Marshall who directed the first Descent attended and was very gracious and friendly with the fans. The second was the director of this film, James Watkins, who did Descent two. A great way to kick off a festival.Stars spotted:
James Watkins - Director
Michael Fassbender
Jack O’Connell

Celebs spotted:
Neil Marshall - Director
Daren Brown
