Around a dozen miles must have been covered on foot and several more by S-Bahn, U-Bahn, bus and tram in Berlin at the weekend. From the Reichstag to Potsdam and Unter den Linden, many tourist sites were visited. One included a Trabant car-rental shop!
Amongst the most “difficult” places to visit were the villa at Wannsee and the Holocaust Memorial
Here’s someone’s feet (mine) at the site of the Berlin Wall. This photo is taken just a few yards from Checkpoint Charlie
From the Blogosphere this week, Iain Dale on “spineless” BoJo. So Boris has been there only a matter of weeks but has he caved in to the PC brigade already? You decide. Juliet Pain from Wales on those Anonymous bloggers - another blogger, Beaman, is quite good with HTML. Cranmer has a little dig at the Irish whilst Daniel Hannan also reflects on that Irish vote and Ascot.
There’s more - Lady Banana counts her blessings, Harry checks out the latest plan for the Golan, Alan Caruba questions Obama and finally Jennifer Jones wants to know - where are all the great men? Answers on a postcard please!
One of the biggest premiers this year and it wasn’t in Leicester Square! The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian took place at the O2. As ever, Leicester Square Television were there with some great “fan-cam” footage:
O2 Arena, North Greenwich, London: 19 June 2008
Way off my patch tonight. Down to Waterloo Pier and a fifteen minute boat ride got me to the O2 for what’s billed as the UK’s biggest film premiere ever. Finding a spot was crucial and outside presented only the prospect of 10,000 people who attended the event. Luckily we got inside that was a poor choice for autograph hunters and me. We could not see what was happening on the big screen outside Narnia Wonderland. Anna Popplewell was completely surrounded as she entered, she must have been a bit scared I would have thought, and Ben had no time left to commune. 35 media team were there tonight so it was quite a line to work.
