Speakers Corner
Cycling through London yesterday in the blistering heat was very fulfilling. Seeing the top tourist spots whilst keeping fit is a great way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon. Having imbibed some reasonably priced water from a Tesco “Metro” in Mayfair, I trundled along to Hyde Park. After taking in the rays, I decided to take a look at one of my haunts of my youth. I’m referring to the cornerstone of British democracy - Speakers Corner.
From 1979 for three or so years, I’d go along there and improve my heckling and speaking skills. Anybody whose got the nerve to do it should just go along and speak or preach or whatever takes your fancy.
Yesterday, there was the usual array of amateur philosophers, radicals, nutty religious types and one individual who was giving away “free hugs”. (I think he should have charged).
I kid you not, this type of activity can really help one’s presentation and speaking skills!
