Public Speaking(Audience Feedback)

Posted in Public Speaking, Personal Development, 2007, UK at 12:13 pm by Jeremy Jacobs

As a speaker or presenter, you’re always going to attract both negative and positive feed- back from your audience.

I learnt some time ago that one shouldn’t spend too much time listening to the minority of people who “have a go” (besides who are they to criticize).
Much better to listen and learn from the majority. In any audience, there’ll be those who think you’re the Devil incarnate and a similar percentage who feel you are the best thing since sliced bread!

To be a public speaker is a fascinating job! In my humble opinion, people should keep on balance in listening and speaking. Nice post. :D

    Hi Jeremy,

I got to know your blog through my life mentor: Jacklyn Ker’s blog.
As an Internet Marketing trainer and also a toastmasters.

I realise about paying attention to the majority of the crowd.
I can’t make everyone love me, so why bother.
As long as I gave to the best of my knowledge, I believe I’ll live with no regrets. Cos some people are simply criticising for criticism’s sake.

I enjoy your blog, will definately come back for more! :)

    Cheers,
    Ming

    Thanks Ming.

If you can please most of the people most of the time you are doing OK.

    Hi Jeremy,

Don’t forget to listen to your self about your own public speaking. In the car on teh way home, turn the radio off and really ask yourself how you went. It takes a while to get used to asking this question and coming to an honest accurate conclusion, but once you can, you will move ahead even further.

Some times it is hard to verbalise to yourself something that you can easly think.

    Cheers

    Darren

Couldn’t agree with you more. I’m very self-critical.
