You only have one task in life

You may have seen this amazing piece of prose before. I’ve just stumbled upon it at Jennifer Jones’ “Goodness Gracious”. Jennifer has three other blogs: The Art of Intimacy, the fantastic Popculture Heroines (there’s a briliant piece on Diana Rigg) and the incredibly useful “How to tell if a guy is a jerk”

You have only one task in life.

It is to show yourself. It is to express who you are. It is to bring forth that which only you can do. It is to touch the lives of those who only you can touch. It is to do what no one else can do. It is to be who you are in fullness.

There is no one like you on the earth. No one who knows what you know, has experienced what you have experienced, or has lived your particular life.

You are one of 60 billion human beings who have lived on this earth.

This universe thrives on uniqueness and it values individuation. The universe constantly moves toward differentiation and expansion. In the human we see this as a species where all are unique. No one is exactly identical to another. Why?

Because the universe needs variety, creativity, and new perspectives.

If it were not so, nothing would have emerged after the bacteria… where cells replicated themselves for ever and ever. But this is not the world in which the human emerged. We live in a world where the universe is calling forth the unique gifts of each and every person.

Whatever your experience, whatever your background, whatever your past, you are needed on this earth. There is something for you to do here. There are people who only you can help in a specific way. You have a voice that no one else can share.

What is God or the Universe asking of you?

How can you touch a life like no other?

How can you fulfill your one task in life?
