How to make an impression on the phone

Posted in Business Development, Sales Tips, Personal Development at 10:33 pm by Jeremy Jacobs

phone-call.jpg Earlier this evening, I received a phone call from abroad. The voice at the other end explained to me briefly about the charity he was trying to raise funds for. I didn’t object to that but what did rile me was the blatant use of a script. He rambled on for about 10-15 secs before I said “Thanks but no thanks”.

If you want to make it in telephone sales or sell yourself on the phone - DON’T SOUND AS THOUGH YOU ARE USING A SCRIPT, EVER.

You only have one task in life

You may have seen this amazing piece of prose before. I’ve just stumbled upon it at Jennifer Jones’ “Goodness Gracious”. Jennifer has three other blogs: The Art of Intimacy, the fantastic Popculture Heroines (there’s a briliant piece on Diana Rigg) and the incredibly useful “How to tell if a guy is a jerk”

You have only one task in life.

It is to show yourself. It is to express who you are. It is to bring forth that which only you can do. It is to touch the lives of those who only you can touch. It is to do what no one else can do. It is to be who you are in fullness.

There is no one like you on the earth. No one who knows what you know, has experienced what you have experienced, or has lived your particular life.

You are one of 60 billion human beings who have lived on this earth.

This universe thrives on uniqueness and it values individuation. The universe constantly moves toward differentiation and expansion. In the human we see this as a species where all are unique. No one is exactly identical to another. Why?

Because the universe needs variety, creativity, and new perspectives.

If it were not so, nothing would have emerged after the bacteria… where cells replicated themselves for ever and ever. But this is not the world in which the human emerged. We live in a world where the universe is calling forth the unique gifts of each and every person.

Whatever your experience, whatever your background, whatever your past, you are needed on this earth. There is something for you to do here. There are people who only you can help in a specific way. You have a voice that no one else can share.

What is God or the Universe asking of you?

How can you touch a life like no other?

How can you fulfill your one task in life?

I’ve been very impressed by the Michelle Tempest’s Blog and I recommend that you all pay it a visit. Sound common sense with a dash of spirituality.

She’s just posted this article - something for all of us to cogitate.

3 Blogging Tips

Posted in Internet Marketing, Website Tips at 12:51 am by Jeremy Jacobs

A few days ago, I recommended that serious bloggers pay a visit to Divya Uttam’s blog

Her latest post includes some very useful technical tips to get your Blog motoring. There are three points that, for me, really stand out.

1. How fast does your Blog load?

In the past few weeks, I’ve moved away from Fasthosts, whose servers are not as fast as those provided by I-point Direct. There’s been a marked improvement in access time.
2. Look out for broken or dead links

This is so frustrating isn’t it? The number of times I visit other Blogs and sites and hey presto, what I’m looking for has disappeared. This is nothing more than bad housekeeping and bad manners. You must do a regular audit of your links.
3. What are your most effective articles?

I would add, what are your most read static pages? This Blog has both. Some visit to see what I’m up to at “Latest News”, others want to view my “Presenter Showreel Preview” and some just like this Blog.

Your Blog is your on-line CV or resume. It ought to look professional.

Confused by these terms? I still am and I don’t mind admitting it. Graham Jones has been very helpful in recent times and now I’ve come across this Blog by Divya Uttam. You may find it very useful.

2000 Bloggers

Posted in Internet Marketing at 11:27 pm by Jeremy Jacobs

Many of you would have seen Tino Buntic’s radical “2000 Bloggers” project. I’m not certain whether linking 2000 Bloggers in this way is an effective method of doing business in the social media arena - but, I’m lovin’ meeting all these new people!

Now this is Internet Marketing

This scared the living daylights out of me when I played it earlier. You think it’s a normal looking Blog, right?

Think again. I think we should call it a vile viral blog.

What do you think?
